• Hi There!

Hi, my name is Jonni and I am Mommy to Sofia (5 years old) and Samantha (6 years old) and wife to John. We reside in upstate NY. Our daughters are 5 mos. apart in age and a whole lot of fun. Sofia is from Jinchang City, Gansu and she turned 11 mos. during our trip to bring her home from China in 2007. Samantha is 5 mos. older but was our 2nd adoption. She was 3 years, 4 mos. when we brought her home from China in 2009. She is from Yangzhou City, Jiangsu.

I love blogging about our girls, photography, fonts, printables & crafts and I also have a slightly obsessive John Mayer addiction. Thank you for stopping by. :)

Lantern festival looks like fun, our FCC is lame, I know, I was on the board for a few months(before I decided to resign due to boredom!)

Hope you get your papers through in time…we still have to do Paisleys.

Killlashandra - The lantern festival looks like fun. That would be neat one to have around here too.

That’s great news about the adoption paperwork. I hope the birth certificate comes in time for national adoption day, that would be such a great experience. :)

MotherMotherOcean - Groovy lanterns. Good luck with the readoption stuff. Ours went pretty smoothly.

Sofia and the Leaves

Sofia and I woke up early yesterday morning so we would have plenty of time to get ready for the Early Intervention appointment. Joanne was supposed to come to see us at 10:30am. Well I woke up at 7:30am and took a shower and then got Sofia up, dressed and fed and then for some…

jwhitacre - BEAUTIFUL pictures!!! Sofia is such a Darling!!! You are a gifted photographer-I wish I was blessed with that gift!! It’s funny b/c I have been dying to find out how to blur the background of a pic and then you shared your tip in this post! Of course I just have a simple digital camera so I’m not sure I would be able to do it… I hope to get a new camera for Christmas-but then I would have no idea what to do with it! Anyway-Sofia is a doll and I LOVE the pics!

Ohhh enjoy these days of Sofia being young and not having an attitude about having her photo taken!:) My kids (Faith included!) are so sick of me taking pictures! They all run when they see the camera now!lol

MotherMotherOcean - Great pictures. There is something weird about the fact that there are leaves on the ground and yet she can wear short sleeved shirts.

Liene - You lost me at histograms :-)

I so need to take a class to learn how to use my camera the way you do. Once I get to ATL hopefully. No time now.

Your pictures were great. Give yourself more credit. The colors are extremely vibrant.

So any suggestions on lenses??? I’ve got the one that my camera came with but wanted to put some on my Christmas wish list.

Pixel Fairy Princess - I love these images!!! She is so sweet and serene – the color is great too! OMG – I miss NY this time of year (but in another month I’ll bet you be looking at my images and saying oh how I miss the SOuth – LOL!) I have to tell you that is one of my favorite tops! Funny that you mentioned histograms and metering… I’m teaching that tonight in my photography class and I’ve been working on my presentation for the last few days. I’ll have to convert it into a tutorial for the blog too. Perhaps you can compare notes and let me know if my tutorial is helpful or not?

Keep shooting! You’re awesome!

kerri - Those photos pop right off the screen, wow, they are so gorgeous and clear.
Your rockin’ that camera girl…

Hugs,
Carla

Julia - I can’t wait till our leaves look like yours – we are just getting a few leaves turning, but nothing much yet. Sofia looks so pretty in the leaves, she looks to have such a calm demeanor about her. What a lucky mommy you are.

Killlashandra - I love the shot of her sitting in the leaves, what a wonderful feeling of fall you get from it. Glad you’re enjoying the photography class too. I’ve always thought metering would be something to learn more about that I just haven’t figured out yet.

Shannon and Dan - Such wonderful photos and such a beautiful little model.

Denise Olson - oh how I miss the fall foliage….so beautiful!!

GGHadden - The most beautiful girl in the world!!!!!!!!!!!! Love your pics.

Got your card today, Thanks. check out Lil Orchids expressions, Thanks again!

redmaryjanes - soft tranquil and beautiful

Sofia’s 2 Year Check-Up & Photos at the Pond

On Wednesday I took Sofia to the Pediatrician for her 2 year check-up. This is actually the 3rd Pediatrician Sofia has had in the past year. Our first Pediatrician, Dr. Panasci moved back to St. Louis, which was too bad because she was really great. She had a real easy and calm way about her….

Denise Olson - She is just the sweetest thing….my kids would have been dunking their heads in that pond….she is such an angel (wanna trade kids for the weekend???) just kidding. she is so very lucky to have you as a mommy!!! keep the camera happy!!!!

*Overflowing* - Jonni, can you email me? I have a couple of camera questions :)

wearechinabound @ gmail. com

Killlashandra - Glad to hear that the doctor approved of early intervention. It can really help. :)

Wonderful pictures at the pond. I especially like that one with her back to the camera and she’s holding the stick. Makes me think she’s orchestrating the fishes to swim for her. Too cute.

laura - dolcepics - Such gorgeous photos! All the best with the speech therapist. I’m sure Sofia will pick it up in a jiffy. :) She’s probably taking her time to listen.. which is the first step in language acquisition. :)

*Overflowing* - She is getting so big! She is just so beautiful!

Man how I wish you lived close to me. I’ve had this silly Canon Rebel since last year and I still haven’t figured out all the cool things it can do!

Colleen - These photos are GORGEOUS!!!! Sofia is stunning!
Wow! She IS tall!! I know when we were in China we could see the people in Lanzhou were very tall. Faith’s height and weight has always been in the 50th%. She is not very tall. Her Dr. said she would be about 5’4-5’5.
Faith started speech therapy at 2 years old. She too was very smart and talking quite a bit, but she needed help with her communication skills. I think it helped her a great deal.
I love watching Sofia blossom!!

bbmomof2boys - She’s saying 10 words and Little T isn’t saying 1 – but our EI told us no to speech therapy – go figure!! Actually, EI said since she is mimmicing us and babbling more that we would look at some speech therapy early next year.

Love the pictures – and yes, I’ll get some up soon.

Hugs,
Carla

Ken - Jenifer - Glad to hear you got good news, Thank you for all the kind words you left on our blog, its great to have friends through this long process. She’s as adorable as ever

PIPO - ADORABLE pictures of your lovely girl.

I hope your ped hangs in for a good long time. It can be so hard to find someone you’re really comfy with…worth their weight in gold when it happens.

Snowflowers Mum - wow Jonni, your photography is just getting more and more beautiful!

Wow on Sofia’s height, last time we checked Piper she was just 36″ and she’s nearly 4! She’s compact.

teach me how to use my camera!!!

Pixel Fairy Princess - Beautiful! She is so Sweet :D
Loved our talk yesterday :D
Ladybug hugs,
;D

Shannon and Dan - That is great news about the speech therapy. How lucky to find this doctor.

I love the photos, they capture such emotion.

Grandma Monica - A very big Your Welcome, I thought it was funny after we had mailed the crayon wrap for Art on the Go you talked about how enthusiastic she was about coloring :) Your photographs keep getting more amazing and I ‘m hooked on those Angel Eyes. Since the PT comes to the house for Lil Orchid my daughter previously got concerned regarding her speech, but before they even got started Lil Orchid began to talk, repeat and make her own little sentences. I’m sure Sofia is just waiting to amaze everyone too. Pretty soon she’ll have you rolling off the couch with cute quotes (it’s been a challenge capturing them on film).

Happy Birthday to My Friend G!

It’s my dear friend G’s birthday today :~. She has been a buddy since we started the long adoption wait and I love her like a sister. She and her hubby have been waiting 28 months for their baby Mia as of today. Please stop by her blog and wish her a fabulous 45th birthday!
