• Hi There!

Hi, my name is Jonni and I am Mommy to Sofia (5 years old) and Samantha (6 years old) and wife to John. We reside in upstate NY. Our daughters are 5 mos. apart in age and a whole lot of fun. Sofia is from Jinchang City, Gansu and she turned 11 mos. during our trip to bring her home from China in 2007. Samantha is 5 mos. older but was our 2nd adoption. She was 3 years, 4 mos. when we brought her home from China in 2009. She is from Yangzhou City, Jiangsu.

I love blogging about our girls, photography, fonts, printables & crafts and I also have a slightly obsessive John Mayer addiction. Thank you for stopping by. :)

Grandma Monica - Happy Spring…truely, don’t you just Love the great Warmth. Looking forward to your Easter pictures and oudoor pictures of Sweet Sofia. And as for my daughter and All Our Friends in Waiting, my prayers are there and when the time is right, we will all have our girls and more Hugs than we can handle.

Is Your Monitor Properly Calibrated?

Thanks for the kind emails asking about the adoption of the baby I mentioned in the previous post. We have not heard back from our agency and I think that the family decided to keep her and I am very pleased that they did. I know they were having a hard time with the idea…

Grandma Monica - It’s no surprise that Sofia is so smart (and beautiful)But it’s nice to see that other people confirm it ;) Sofia is gonna Love preschool, the activities and friends. And just wait for all the new songs she’ll sing!

Half Gaelic, Half Garlic! - Funny you brought up the Calibrator….Debbie and I were just talking about that this week….I desparately need one!!

Good to here Sofia is doing so well….that is such a wonderful update!! I must have missed your last post……I have been very MIA myself these last few weeks!!

Enjoy the beautiful weather!

Lisa

Snowflowers Mum - I’ll have to look into that calibrator.

Great news for Sofia!

Look foward to seeing new photos!

MotherMotherOcean - I need that product for my television. Everyone looks orange.

Glad the kiddo is doing well.

Colleen - It is sooooo wonderful to hear how well Sophia is doing!!! What a blessing she is! Kind of scary to think about school already, huh? I remember back when I didn’t even want to think about it and now Faith is almost finished with Kindergarten!
Have a great week and look forward to some updated pictures!!

A Call…

I have been MIA for a while and hope to not go so long again without posting. This week has been really busy, somewhat crazy, exciting and frustrating all at the same time. On Tuesday I received a call from our agency around 11:30am. it was a representative from our agency and she wanted to…

MotherMotherOcean - Interesting news. You never know what is going to happen. Hang tight.

Kristy - Jonni I just stopped by again to see if anything had happened or been decided yet. I am thinking about all of you and praying.

Love, Kristy

Julia - We miss you!! I’m going through withdrawals. :-)

The Gang's Momma - Sheeeeesh! I stay off the blog for a couple days to get some Spring cleaning done and I come back to this! Wow. So, now it’s Tuesday. Any word? Any update? Wow. Lots to think and pray on my friend.

Oh, funny thing: I just re-connected with a friend from h.s. – he lives in B’ville. Of all places :) VERY far from where we grew up. His step-daughters go to the h.s. there. Crazy small world, eh?

jwhitacre - Praying for you!

Cheri - I agree with the others – WOW! So much to take in. I will keep all of you in my prayers.

Nikki - Jonni! I can’t believe you didn’t tell me this was going on! I will certainly be praying for the whole situation…it’s crazy the ways that God works.
Love you and your sweet family.
XOXO

Grandma Monica - You and your family are always in our prayers..but we will be saying a few extra ones for you during this time of waiting. It is so hard, no matter how you try to distract yourself. I’m sure Easter and family and of course Sofia hunting eggs will help. ENJOY!
Blessings from all of us.

Michele - Girl I'm not sure how you do it, I wouls be nuts by now! You are in my prayers and will continue to be.
Hope your Easter was good, I am sure it was with that beautiful little one! 2nd Easter already, where has that time gone? That means with have been "talking" over two years???
Take care & I'll be thinking about you!
Love,
Michele

PIPO - I am thinking of you and this family. I hope you all find peace in an answer soon!

Julia - It’s so good to see an update from you Jonni, I’ve missed hearing what you guys are up to and from the looks of it you’re up to a LOT! I can understand your trepidation over the most recent events but we all know from experience that what will happen is meant to be. It’s living in the unknown that can be in alternating ways, fun, frightful and frustrating. I do hope you find Sophia’s sibling sooner rather than later, something tells me she’d be a great big sister!

Now pictures – we need pictures!! :-)

Natalie - Jonni just remember that God IS in control. I’ll be praying for you and that family.
Natalie

Dale - That is a lot going on. One never knows on these adoption journeys. Maybe you will end up with 3! Thinking of you. L, Dale

a Tonggu Momma - Wow ~ I’ll be praying for you during this time of waiting. I’ll also pray for this family… hopefully they will feel ready to parent their little baby.

Jill - WOW girl! So much to process, and how sad/exciting! My prayers are with you friend. I think of you guys so often, and wish you lived closer. PLEASE keep me up to date with this….
Happy EASTER! HE has risen!
Hugs, Jill

Sofia is 2 1/2!

I can’t believe our baby girl turned 2 1/2 today. We have started getting down to business with trying to use the potty but have yet to sucessfully potty in the potty. I feel confident it will happen any time now. Sofia is now 25 lbs. and 35 inches. She has gained almost 9 lbs….

Grandma Monica - I believe you have every right to be Proud of your little girl, why not she's smart & beautiful. We have been waiting for winter to go away too. I am tired of this freakish weather.
Going to wish you all a Happy Easter early, in case I am a little distracted. Since my son is working we are traveling to him this weekend..everyone's excited.
Don't stain your fingers Ms. Bunny!

Kristy - Happy 2 1/2 Birthday you beautiful, amazing, beautiful precious little girl!!

Love, Kristy

The Gang's Momma - I need to do an update soon. But wow, she’s a rocket scientist. :) You must be so proud. And so happy!!!!

Janet - You sound just like a proud momma….and you should be! She sounds amazing!

PIPO - Good to hear about speech therapy. I feel like that will be in the future for my girl too.

Nice library. I, err Claire, has all those very same books.

Claire freaks if she poops in her diaper. Pee, now that’s another story. Then again, we have oodles of time to get to that on a potty.

kerri - Happy 2 1/2 Sofia..
What a remarkable little girl!
Hope you had a wonderful time yesterday with your travel group.

Lisa - Yayyy for Sofia! That’s awesome about her speach. It’s something that most of us take for granted but it’s actually very difficult for a lot of kids. Good job sofia!

Sienna isn’t ready for the potty yet at all. Whenever we bring it out to try she grabs the little pot from underneath, plops it on her head and runs around yelling, “hat”. ~sigh~ I guess it will be awhile.

Thanks for all the info you sent me about your camera, and photo editing programs. We’ve been so busy that I can’t even remember if I said thank you. So, thank you.

Take care friend.
Lisa

Oh by the way it’s snowing here in the great white north of Canada. Ontario to be specific. What gives? Happy spring.

MotherMotherOcean - I need to meet this kid!

Half Gaelic, Half Garlic! - Happy 2 1/2!!

We were headed toward giving up the diapers in early fall but Sarah lost interest and absolutely refused to use the potty after about 4 weeks of it…..so I did not push it. I am thinking in the next month or two with the warm weather, it might be easier….so we are going to try again!

Have a great time with your friends!

Lisa
