Exciting News About Samantha
{Wednesday, October 28, 2009}
We have been busy running to a lot of doctor appointments with Samantha and Sofia. On Friday I took Samantha to Upstate Hospital for the EEG that we needed to have done. Sammy did great while the testing was being done. She sat very still for a long time and did a really good job of not squirming since she had many electrodes attached to her head. You may remember that Samantha was diagnosed with Epilepsy since she had a couple seizures when she was first brought into her SWI around 2.5 years ago. Well, we went back to the doctor today to have Sofia's 3 year check-up and the girls had to get their H1N1 vaccinations and while we were there the doctor got all of Samantha's test results back including blood, stool and EEG. The doctor told us that everything is completely normal and Samantha does not have Epilepsy. What a joy it was to receive this news. Of course, we would have done whatever we needed to do to to help Samantha with Epilepsy if she did indeed have it but we are so glad that our daughter will not have to worry with that. This was a wonderful surprise. It just breaks my heart that she had to spend 2.5 of her 3.5 years in the SWI. Samantha has really turned a corner in the past week with attachment. She used to wake up sort of sad in the morning and now she is happy each morning I go into her and Sofia's bedroom. She also seems to be happy during the day and evening. She is also speaking so many words in English. Samantha has been through so many changes in her short life and we are working hard to make sure she knows how loved she is.

What awesome news! I bet they were just fever seizures! I'm so happy to read this!

Great news!! I, too, was wondering if they are assuming that they were febrile seizures? My dd had one in January and am grateful that this is what it seemed to be. Something that most kids grow out of by 5 or 6. Glad she is doing so well.
PRAISE JESUS! Been thinking of you guys Jonni!
Hugs, Me
What BLESSED news, Jonni!!
M had a seizure after being in the US for 2 months. It was so scary and I always have fear about it in the back of my head. She had all kinds of testing and everyone said the same thing. " Sometimes these things just happen. It may happen again or it may not." I'm glad you got positive results!
Oh wow Jonni!!! That is great news, I'm so happy for you guys. I'm glad she is doing well on her attachment. When Little T first got home we had a toy in her crib that would make a noise if she pulled it. This is how she announced to us that she was up everyday morning! She too was quiet and sad in the mornings but this passed pretty quickly.
2 wonderful girls!!
Hugs,
Carla

Fantastic news. Truly wonderful!
I am so incredibly Happy for all of you! This is why children are called "Blessings" and in all their ways "Miracles". We miss the photos, hope you regain your strength and pick up your camera soon. Lil Orchid misses Sofia and wants to see more of her new sister, Samantha ;) Always in our thoughts!
What wonderful news! My Em too had seizures but no one told me until I was in China. They were from a time when she was sick and needed care that couldn't be provided by her SWI. Thankfully she was loved and supported financially to get the care she needed. I'd love her regardless but she is a typical 3 1/2 year old without any medical issues.
Praise God. So glad to hear that!
Where are your gorgeous photo's???
