• Hi There!

Hi, my name is Jonni and I am Mommy to Sofia (5 years old) and Samantha (6 years old) and wife to John. We reside in upstate NY. Our daughters are 5 mos. apart in age and a whole lot of fun. Sofia is from Jinchang City, Gansu and she turned 11 mos. during our trip to bring her home from China in 2007. Samantha is 5 mos. older but was our 2nd adoption. She was 3 years, 4 mos. when we brought her home from China in 2009. She is from Yangzhou City, Jiangsu.

I love blogging about our girls, photography, fonts, printables & crafts and I also have a slightly obsessive John Mayer addiction. Thank you for stopping by. :)

Our 4 Year Family Day Anniversary

Today was the 4 year anniversary of the date Sofia was placed in our arms in China. I will never forget that perfect day. Actually it was a perfect evening since it was approx. 20 minutes after we arrived in China. I remember that she did not cry, she just looked deeply into our eyes and just seemed to know that we were there to take care of her forever. She was so smart and trusting, even at almost 11 mos. She gave John and I the best gift in the world…being her parents! I was looking through our pics from China and found this one of us at the Guangzhou Zoo sitting on the big kangaroo’s lap. I had almost forgotten about Sofia having the reverse mohawk when we received her. China had operated on her lip shortly before we arrived and had to insert an IV in her head so they had to shave a line down her head. John and I were in love the minute we saw her and have been ever since.

Canon 430 EX II For Sale – $185

SOLD

I have decided to sell my 430 EX II Speedlite since I recently purchased the 580 EX II. If you are interested, please contact me by clicking the contact button at the top of the page. This is a great flash for On-Camera or Off-Camera. This flash has been used approx. 4 times and is in excellent condition. I purchased it brand new in Dec. 2008 and I have the original receipt that I will include. It includes the Speedlite, Case, Original Box, Speedlite Foot, Warranty Card and I also included a light diffuser (Stofen type diffuser) that I purchased separately. I do not have the instruction manual since I somehow misplaced it shortly after purchase but you can download a PDF of it online. I originally purchased this for $268 including tax and I am selling it for $185 including shipping (US addresses only please). Thanks.

Annie Leibovitz At Work

Last night we went out to eat at the girls favorite restaurant and I asked John is we could stop off at Barnes & Noble after we left the restaurant. I wanted to see if they had the book, Annie Leibovitz – At Work.  I have a lot of admiration and respect for Annie Leibovitz and this book did not disappoint. In fact, it was so captivating that I started it around 9:00 last night and finished it just a few minutes ago. She is extremely down to earth and candid about her photography even though she has had access to some of the most prolific figures in recent history and is one of the most financially (not counting her recent financial troubles) and artistically successful photographers of all time. It is about her thoughts and ideas on the shoots she has done and how she went about accomplishing the task at hand – making an amazing photograph. If you are interested in reading it, I would recommend checking this book out at the library if you do not want to shell out $40 for it. Although it is well worth the price. Unfortunately our library does not have it in stock so I had to purchase it. They do have her previous book “A Photographers Life” that I have put on hold and will pick up later today. The book is an easy read and has lots of great photographs. I also heard that she is releasing a new book in November.

Happiness

This week is going by so fast. It’s hard to believe it is almost Wednesday. On Sunday we had some close friends over for a cookout and unfortunately it rained the entire time so we just brought the party inside. I had cut some of the limelight hydrangeas from the big hydrangea bush in the back to put on the tables when our friends arrived and I almost forgot that they were still outside on the deck until today. I had to grab my camera just because the flowers make me so happy.:)

Amy - Beautiful! The color is just gorgeous!!

American Museum of Natural History, NYC (6.30.11)

I am attempting to catch-up on some posts from the past few mos. At the end of June, John, the girls, my in-laws and the girls cousin Nicky and I visited The American Museum of Natural History in New York City. We have been there before but this was Samantha’s first visit and I swear that I could just spend the day there with my camera. The MONH is my very favorite museum and there is always something cool to explore. We all had a great time.

It was so dark and I had my ISO up all the way and my shutter speed low, so this one came out a little shaky.

The subway tile art is beautiful as you enter the subway from the museum. A real work of art.
